According to Dave Brooks, President and CEO of Brooks Internet Software, the company purchased Laserfiche to create a comprehensive ECM foundation to manage both an extensive backlog of paper files as well as tens of thousands of PDFs related to customer orders. Newburgh NY, – May 26, 2011 – DocuWare, Integrated Document Management specialist, has received a new certification that helps health care providers and hospitals obtain financial incentives. As of April 1, 2011 DocuWare is the only Integrated Document Management system certified under the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®) for "meaningful use" for In-Patient Discharge Instructions (Module - 170.306.e, v1.1).
As part of The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) also known as the stimulus bill, hospitals and physicians can begin to receive financial incentives based on their use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), but only if they can demonstrate to be "meaningful users" themselves.
Eligible professionals and hospitals who seek to qualify for incentive payments under the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs are required by statute to use Certified EHR Technology and must demonstrate use of a qualified EHR in a meaningful manner. In 2011, this would include, for example: improving quality, safety and efficiency and reducing healthcare disparities, engaging patients and families, coordination care and maintaining privacy and security of systems and data.
